Counseling

Mission Statement

The mission of Alston Middle School’s counseling program is to create a supportive environment where every student can learn, achieve, and build meaningful relationships. Guided by data, school counselors promote academic success, social-emotional development, and college and career readiness for all students within our diverse community. In partnership with families, educators, and community stakeholders, we are dedicated to removing barriers to learning, ensuring equitable opportunities, and empowering students to recognize their strengths, build resilience, and grow into confident, compassionate, and contributing members of society.

Vision Statement

The vision of Alston Middle School’s counseling department is for every student to thrive as a resilient, respectful, and empowered learner, prepared for success in high school, post-secondary pursuits, and lifelong achievement. Our hope is for students to be equipped with the skills to overcome adversity, advocate for themselves and others, and make meaningful contributions to their community.

Crisis

If you or someone you know is in crisis call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline  at 988 (para ayuda en español, llame al 988). The Lifeline provides 24-hour, confidential support to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Call 911 in life-threatening situations.

If you are worried about a friend’s social media updates, you can contact safety teams at the social media company . They will reach out to connect the person with the help they need.
