Ms. Causey

Prior to becoming the Media Specialist at Alston Middle School in 2009, I taught middle school ELA and Social Studies for thirteen years.

Connecting the students, faculty/staff, and parents of Alston with fantastic books and resources is my passion.  One of my favorite parts of this job is planning events, such as our Fall Bookfest and Read-In, which both celebrate and encourage reading.

Additionally, I serve as a Student Council sponsor and a member of the AMS House Leadership Team.

Ms. Hamilton

I have been with Dorchester District Two for eleven years and most recently the past five of those in the Media Center at Sand Hill Elementary School. Although I have enjoyed the discovery of reading with younger readers, I am especially excited to embark on another level with young adult readers. I like to form relationships with the students who come into the Media Center and find books that are the right fit for them. Middle school libraries are filled with interesting higher level and complex books that make my job especially fun in sparking the love of reading.

An interesting fact about me is that I am a former AMS parent. Two of my three children attended AMS, and I am thrilled to work with some of their former teachers!  My husband and I live in Summerville with our dog, Pearl. We have three adult children--two of whom have graduated from college, one who is married, and two who live across the country!  Our youngest is a college freshman in Georgia. My favorite thing to do is to visit them and explore where they live.

My AMS House is Sumatra.
