AMS Athletic Department

General Philosophy

The mission of the Alston Middle School Athletic Department is to aid in the total development of the student-athlete through organized athletic participation.  The full experience includes participation in team sports, a wide variety of movement skills, the application that physical activity should be a lifelong habit and the development of social skills and self-confidence.

Program Overview

We currently compete in the following Dorchester District Two middle school athletic programs.

- Men's Wrestling

- Men's Baseball

- Men's Basketball

- Women's Basketball

- Women's Volleyball

These athletic experiences all fall under the following set of expectations and are set forth to produce productive citizens.

As a student-athlete at AMS I will strive to abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the district, school and coaches.  I will attend practices faithfully and work to better the team and myself.  I will always conduct myself in a manner that will bring credit to my family, community and myself.  I will try to encourage others and demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

Eligibility Requirements

-    Students passing the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades by academic promotion (not by social promotion or placement) are considered as having met the requirements for academic eligibility for first semester.

Satisfactory work is defined as meeting the school district's promotion policy.
